GameZone's Steven Hopper has updated hands-on impressions for Bioshock 2. The preview details two new environments that are to be discovered in the sequel that releases in February.

The first game introduced a camera mechanic, which allowed you to research enemy types by taking their picture. This would give you specific attack boosts against them when you take them on. Bioshock 2 takes this even further by giving you the ability to film your enemies as you attack them, employing a trial-and-error style of research.

Despite my absolute love for the first one, the release date of this title falls into the pot with 3-4 other fantastic titles I am looking forward to.

As athmaus said, Mass Effect 2 lies around this date..

Mass Effect 2 will have my time and not Bioshock 2

Haha! Like everyone else has said, I'll be too busy on Mass Effect 2 for this game.

BUT it seems to have lost it's way with the sequel, it just doesn't look as good as the first game horror wise. Its looking more and more like another boring FPS game (Like Call of Duty) =[

Bioshock was horror? I totally missed that.

And yes ME2 will consume my time. Though B2 looks a little like a disappointment to me. Hope multiplayer turns out good.

It was more the 'I'm the only one alive fighting for survival' kinda atmosphere I think he's refering to. The original is one of the most immersive games ever (that I know anyways), Bioshock 2 just doesn't seem to have the same punch.

Bioshock wasn't really a horror game as such, but it's atmosphere was vastly more tense and horror-like than most current gen horror games.

I think it more so lies in the route of the game been the spiritual successor to the System Shock titles, which were horror games, as opposed to merely having an immersive atmosphere.

Exactly how i feel, it was more like a horror because of the atmosphere and being the only sane human left in there up against alot of crazy ass splicers and maniacs, whilst basking in the environment of broken down stores and having to shit yourself when you accidently throw something at a big daddy and RUN LIKE HELL.

        Now it's just..."HEY I'M A BIG DADDY, I'M AWESOME!" =|

Well agreed. The game has amazing atmosphere but that doesn't make it horror then again, I gotta stop comparing games from this generation to games from the PS1 era.

Compared to this generation Bioshock might as well be the scariest game alive =/

Either way it did have creepy/eerie moments and such a beautiful world, but it just seems like were going to see that same world all over again except now we have a drill as a hand.

I got ME1, and will not buy the second one until I beat the first(fanfreakin'tastic game though). I got Bioshock 2 reserved, can't wait to be a badass big daddy.

Then you should focus all your time and attention on beating the first game, thereafter swiftly buying the second game and not buying Bioshock 2

Mass Effect 2 first definitely, but I'm still looking forward to this one. Unless the reviews agree that there's been a huge drop in quality since the first game I'll definitely be purchasing this one after a couple of months of ME2.
