After attending the recent press event in San Francisco, California, Michael Lafferty has delivered his hands-on impressions of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing for the multiple platforms it is releasing on.

There are the stock elements, like the hit points that accelerate the kart, as well as items to be picked up and used to disrupt other racers. Yep, from rockets to hazard cones, rainbows to obscure the vision and even an attack that will invert the world of the targeted foe, the game is built for one thing – fun. And four or five of the shorter courses have shortcuts that can be used advantageously – if the player is smart about using them.

I was surprised by this game it was actually very very fun in the demo. I never won a race but that is what surprised me I was expecting something very easy, but maybe my tactics were wrong or the default difficulty of the demo was high but I could only manage 2nd.. It was the challenge that has made me really contemplate a purchase at some point.

I had a little time with this one while at Gamescom. It's no Mario Kart, but it certainly looked promising.
