Love soccer? Apparently, enough people on this planet are crazy about it. So EA thinks up FIFA Online...

Just one of many free-to-play games from major publishers, FIFA Online lets you hold matches online and off, but multiplayer will be the biggest draw.

The game LOOKS good too. Check out the preview.

Piracy has plagued the PC this past number of years, becoming a problem for all publishers and developers on it to some extent. Electronic Arts (EA) has in the past either ported last gen iterations of its sports titles to the platform, or made use of DRM -- some of it pretty heavy stuff. They've been learning with each experiment though, recently supporting free DLC for legit customers on titles like Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2, and also releasing quality free-to-play titles like Battleforge and now FIFA Online, obtaining revenue through alternative avenues like advertising and microtransactions.

FIFA Online is a free soccer sim by EA Sports, and has just hit its second beta, introducing a load of new features and extending play hours. Don't be fooled: the game has tons of value for those who prefer their matches offline, but multiplayer will definitely be a thrill for those into it.

I would have though the next gen consoles versions of FIFA 10 would have been just as good.
