The latest information on Mafia 2 is the new Dev-Diary released several hours ago, come check it out, and the detailed hands-on and other media from OXCGN's time with the game at developers 2k Australia's offices last week.
The detail in the game looks well above others, and the storyline actually has some depth to it, although I see it on a different level to our previewer, and it will be interesting to see how the game does in 5 months time when it is released in August.
I'm still amazed though that the game already has a pass by the tuff Australia OFLC for MA15+, as it certainly is extreme in the violence department, there's sex, drugs, blood and lots of language. SO how did it get the nod without any questions being asked so early? one would ask . . It is in dire need of the R18+ rating as it is in all other countries.
Just recently 2k Australia were kind enough to invite us into their offices to get some hands-on time slapping people in the face, ‘reading’ some Playboy covers, selling cigarettes from the back of a truck and taking care of some greasers in their upcoming long awaited game Mafia II.
Developed by 2k Czech, the original developers of Mafia back on the PC, this time Mafia II is set in fictitious Empire Bay which is based on various popular US cities such as Los Angeles, New York etc, but set during the mid-20th Century. More impressively it actually boasts a massive 10 Square mile radius which is double the size of Lost Heaven (Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven).
All formalities aside let’s get into the grit of what I was there to actually get my hands on and play. Mafia II starts off like Grand Theft Auto IV in a sense, not story-wise, but in the use of cutscenes.
