Brian Rowe of GameZone was able get his hands on Power Gig. Aiming to provide true realism to the rhythm genre, Rise of the Six String gives players a real guitar, instead of a controller. Does this rhythm game bring something new to the table, or is it too late?

Power Gig’s hook is that the controller is a real guitar, complete with pickups, strings, and a jack for your amp. It won’t replace a Stratocaster, or even an entry-level Squire, but it’s a bridge that makes the gap between fantasy and reality a little smaller.

This game has the potential to either be really good, or just frustrate the hell out of players. Sight reading any kind of music is incredibly difficult, and asking you to play rock songs by sight with a semi-real guitar is quite the task.

I'll take Pro Mode on RB3, thank you.

This is gonna be KILLED by Rock Band 3, its Pro Mode looks much better (the power gig guitar looks pretty sweet though, better than RB3's).

Makes me sad to think Clapton signed an exclusive deal with them.

And I think the Squier guitar looks much better than the PG guitar.

This game is alright with the guitar. Although Rock band 3 is easily gonna kill with with pro mode.

The air drums are absolutely lame though. I tried it at E3 and it is pure garbage.
