Japanese developer Monolith (responsible for such titles as the Gamecube's innovative card battle RPG series Baten Kaitos and the PS2's Xenosaga trilogy) will be bringing a brand new Action RPG to the DS. By the looks of it, it could be as remarkable and innovative as the titles in the former Squaresoft team members heyday. No North American release is scheduled as of yet, but this being a first-party developer, it's safe to assume it won't be long til it arrives stateside.

Boasting unusually high production values for a completely original DS RPG, Soma Bringer definitely feels like a Monolith game. From the elaborate character designs to the colorful backdrops to the gorgeous soundtrack by Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears), it almost feels like a high-budget PlayStation (or even PS2) title.
