Mythos: free MMORPG aims to outdo Diablo

Mythos is going to be a mostly free MMORPG (there will be some opt-in payment schemes) for the PC. Why should you care? One, it's supposed to not be repetitous, a problem that plagues many of these kinds of games. Two, it exceeds Diablo's "Hardcore" mode, offering three, one of which will see your character actually die if you lose all HP, never to return to the game. Also, it looks pretty good.

Internet thrill-seekers should bear in mind that you can check all three of these boxes upon character creation for an experience that's sure to be memorable, if more than likely brief.

    It looks interesting, but I'm not diggin' the dungeon scenery. Sure, it was cool back in the days of Diablo, but if you get into an MMO you want nice environments, sort of like that town.

    Interesting, nonetheless.

    Funny how this game originally made to test out net-load for Hellgate London is turning out to be much more fun than Hellgate London.

    Wtf? That would suck hardcore lol. Imagen you spent like 5 years on your char and you just die.

        Actually that's one of the best things about the game IMHO, and one of the only reasons why I stuck with Hellgate London as long as I did. Playing Hardcore Elite mode is the only way to go MMO's were you just die any have like a experience penalty for a minute or two or kind of lame, IMHO... having death actually meaning the death of your character makes the game much more exciting. Try it out!

        I'm going to be playing the beta this week... I'll be writing a Mythos beta report next week on GG ...

      Haha, that's what hardcore is like! Haven't you guys ever played Hardcore Mode in Diablo? It's quite an experience.

    Actually apparently tons of people do still play diablo 2. No joke -- actually more people play Diablo 2 than currently play Hellgate London, judging from what I've seen.

    Really? Well I might go out and buy the battle chest one of these days. Just for something to do. I kind of miss it. haha
