IGN Australia gives MGS4 a 9.5/10

Gothic Girl | June 05, 2008 | Reviews | Playstation 3
IGN UK gave Metal Gear Solid 4 a 9.9/10.
Now IGN Australia has reviewed the game and they were thoroughly impressed, giving it a 9.5/10.

IGN Au's only complaints regarded Lasting Appeal and Gameplay. They didn't neccessarily think those aspects were bad, just not as "polished" as they could have been.
Overall though, they were very impressed with the game.

Despite any perceived shortcomings we see and play, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is still thoroughly wonderful. The emotional impact and the player’s investment in the story and characters are the game’s greatest assets. It refines the MGS formula and introduces just enough new (or respectfully influenced) ideas to ensure that it stands on its own as a game. But where MGS4 really succeeds is in delivering an experience unlikely to ever be surpassed by Kojima ever again, providing fans everything they want to see, twists you won’t expect and more raw, lavish creativity than the video gaming medium probably deserves. Take a bow, Snake; it’s been a long and consistent delight after all these years.

Wow I get thumbed down for stating what I believe.Just because whoever thumbed me down is probably a brainless sheep that just follows reviews.Or they just don't understand the meaning of OPINION.

I don't give a shit what others say about a game.Personally a MGS game has never been any less than worthy of a 10.No other series am I generally really sad after it's over.Does that mean I think everyone should give it 10? No way, someone can give it 1 for all I care.My opinion matters more than anyone else's TO ME.Just like everyone else's opinion should matter only TO THEM.

      I thumbed you up.

I reckon the official Donnelly PS3 Magazine (UK edition) will give it a 10 too.

We really need a delete feature here.

I'm with kazad on this one. It's a damn good score, and the review was fair.

    Ah a quad triple post?

This isn't really relevant to the article bu Gamesta don't worry about being thumbed down. People seem to go crazy if they get even one, just ignore it

Yeah I know.I just get really annoyed with the stupidity/ignorance/childishness of some people.

Anyway 9.5 is a VERY decent score.

Very decent? It's much more than a "decent" score.

Tbh, I wouldn't even care if MGS4 is worthy of a 10/10, 9/10 or 8/10. I enjoy the majority of games that are given those scores. They might not be perfect, but most of us have fun with them. And, heck, the MGS games haven't always been known as perfect 10/10 games, but that hasn't stopped them from being great.

I'm getting fed up of everyone bitchin when MGS4 doesn't get 10/10, who they kiddin 9.5/10 is a great score and rarity if a game gets a score like it

Hope I'm not one of the people you're referring to.Like I said before, I don't give a rats ass what score a game gets.

Another persons opinion does nothing to make me feel any different about a game.

Anyone remember the Army Men games? I loved them games.

Funny thing is when it got a 9.9, most people were bitching and moaning but a 9.5 and now most people seem to be okay with it.

But yeah, great score. They're are bound to be some ups and downs in the game whether we like it or not. But tbh, I don't see this game getting anything below 9 at all. If it does, it still won't bother me tbth.

The primary difference is that the 9.9 was such a petty difference from 10 that most people found it to be ridiculous that they even bothered in the first place.

You make a good point. At least its getting impressive reviews. Can't wait to see what Gamespot gives it. They're always known to be harsh towards PS3 titles. @__@
