GamersDailyNews Hardware Review of 2.5'' Portable 500GB Hard Drive

Hobgob1in | August 07, 2008 | Reviews | PC Mac Gaming Tech/Hardware
GamersDailyNews puts Verbatim's tiny new USB portable hard drive to the test. From benchmarking transfer speeds to testing its ability to stream high definition movies to an Xbox 360, the small and sleek device is packed with as much potential as storage space. Small on the outside, massive on the inside.
Essentially, the Verbatim portable 500GB drive doesn't lend itself to review all that well. It's so simple, and works so effortlessly in every respect we could think of. True enough, it's not particularly cheap, but the tiny physical size, feather light weight and massive amounts of storage space make it a perfect work companion.

I need one of these (maybe not 500 GB) to back up my music. It's become too large for my computer to handle.

it's good that they are able to include more memory and faster transfer speeds. I feel it's important to back up all of your important shit - I lost ALL of my financial records when my older computer got fried in a blackout.

Question could I use this for my PS3 also? Im running low on space of my 60 GB. :<

Also I could use this for my PC as well, but not that much, I said 100GB could be enough to get rid of my shit on the PC.

We didn't actually test it with a PS3, but it's my understanding that (for things like video and music) the PS3 is actually more forgiving than the Xbox 360, so I reckon it'll work just fine.
I bet you won't even need to format it using the Mac standard - I think the PS3 is happier with PC standards.
Like we said in the review, it's an incredibly simple device, but so very useful. We NEED this at the office, now :-) Don't know how we managed without.
