Today IGN reviewed Silent Hill: Homecoming and they were not impressed, giving it an overall score of 6.7/10!
Their main complaints were that the game felt more like an action game than a horror, that some graphic models and textures looked odd, and that the plot itself "came across more like a subplot than a full extension of the Silent Hill franchise". Although they praised the game's amazing locations and Akira Yamaoka's incredible musical score.
Discuss in the Silent Hill: Homecoming
As a fan of the entire Silent Hill universe and someone that has every game associated to the property, I was hoping that Homecoming would be an excellent step forward for the franchise. Unfortunately, I admit that the game feels like a bit of a letdown. The gameplay has been reduced from a tense psychological experience fraught with spine tingling jumps and scares to a generic, predictable action title set in the location with good graphics and a great soundtrack. If Alex had been limited in some way, or even if there was an adjustment to the fearful aspect to the title, this could've been a solid game.

Whilst the score may look low, it is a far cry from the other reviews I have been reading on the internet. Other reviews have been more favourable and actually had intelligent points backed up by anecdote and ideology.
Listen to the IGN video review of the game. The guy clearly speaks simplistically and talks basic on many a level. He is inept. But its his score. We cant dispute that.
I wouldn't consider this score to be an accurate representation of the game however. Look for more reviews, and even look at previous reviews within the series. I think the title will be fantastic, and ill be getting it on launch day!
Got what it deservedI mean Miss GG is beautiful and it's an awesome game! The main complaints don't really sound like a very solid foundation for their low-ish score, but then again sometimes low scores are fashionable. I mean 1UP just loves to give out a C to everything.
Na it was'nt. Ah well probably mucked it up somehow. Yours is better anyway!
Yeh Im honestly sad. The Silent Hill series has always been a personal favourite and I bear its success pretty close to my heart in a gamers way. Its sad. Im with you Gothic Girl, ill be getting it but I don't expect the adventure from previous installments.
I think with games of today, you shouldn't expect the same thing as they were made back then. You need to realize its a new generation and different way of developing games.
A great example of what im saying is Final Fantasy. Roz has shown her displeasure with the recent FF games and including the "father" of FF and how its no longer the way it was. In my eyes, I think its just the evolution of the games and you have to just play the game and like the game for what it is, and does. I still think that Homecoming can be a great fun title worth the overall scores. And im going to rent and see how it fairs.
But again no one is the same as me, and I probably don't view things the same.
As for this article, IGN sucks like gamespot when rating games. Im tired of going to the sites looking at it. Their scores are meaningless now. I wait for other scores from gamepro and sites like those.
In relation to the topic, I dont mean SH5 is shovelware, although I wont rule it out as a possibility. That IGN twat probably wouldnt know horror if it slapped him in the face. Such an unethical reviewer. I could take a 6.7 score from someone who had valid and decent reasoning. But that reviewer, sucked.
