Saints Row 2 IGN Review: "Impressive" 8.2

IGN has just finished reviewing Saints Row 2, the highly anticipated game which is to release on the PS3, Xbox360 and PC respectively. It is a fair review. Read for yourself.

That's Saints Row 2 – possibly the most diverse sandbox action game available – and one that is entirely aware at all times that it's coming in after Rockstar's heavyweight champion. Volition has benefitted from years of other games that have come and gone, each contributing to the genre's gameplay bit by bit. Because of this, if GTA IV did a few key things extraordinarily well, then Saints Row 2 offers ten-fold the gameplay at the expense of refinement, bugs and structural originality.

8.2 means nothing coming from IGN imo. They gave GTA IV 10 and that wasn't worth it.

  That's exactly what I'm thinking. If they gave GTAIV 10/10 just because it was a GTA and they thought that gamers would screw at them if they didn't give it perfect score... what does this rating actually mean? Are they giving it a lower score because it's not GTA, or is it just not as good as GTAIV (in which case this would be a game worth avoiding).

Yeh IGN have their two reviews mixed up on the review list page so I must have grabbed the wrong one. In anycase, a fantastic and fair review. After GTAIV, this will feel like a breath of fresh air. GTAIV was good though. This hopefully could be better.

Given a pedigree of games that allowed you to wreak bloody mayhem, commandeer ridiculous vehicles and gave you some very wacky and clever missions, GTA IV felt shockingly sparse to those hoping for San Andreas' free-for-all content.

GTAIV sucks, and eprsonally,I think it was overhyped. Like Brawl.

Anyway, I am getting this game too. I played the first one, and it was great.
