It seems that Fable II is being very well received, which can mean nothing but good things considering the steep competition.

9.5/10

quote
It's something the first game excelled at and it's an even greater achievement here. Regions are now vast, open and uniformly staggering in their beauty and attention to detail. From the bustle of Bowerstone to the haunting tragedy of Wraithmarsh, every place has its own distinct character and its own story to tell. Characters and themes run throughout the game; books tell of legends, heroes and history, all of which is skilfully introduced and interweaved. The more you explore, the greater the personal rewards as you stumble on long-forgotten relics, piecing together their origins and eventual fate in Albion's tumultuous timeline. It's one of the most cohesive, tangible game worlds we've ever played.
quote
It's interesting that two of the biggest games this Christmas – this and LittleBigPlanet – both use very traditional genre elements as a springboard to launch their immeasurably lofty ambitions. As with Sony's remarkable title, which fashions social interaction and creativity around a relatively straightforward platform game, Fable II uses the familiar tropes of the action RPG to create an enormously immersive, profoundly absorbing world to experience and explore. Ignore the innovations in either game and you're left with a core that can't help but compare unfavourably to their purer cousins.

Closing Comments
Invest in Albion, its inhabitants and its history; embrace the power you’re afforded to shape yourself and the world around you and Fable II is an astonishing achievement. It’s not an easily definable, singular vision but an impressive, unparalleled attempt at empowering the player in ways no other game has before. While individual elements might struggle to shine on close scrutiny, it’s their harmonious integration that makes Fable II such a captivating, unforgettable experience. Yes, it breaks little new ground by traditional RPG standards but no game has come close to offering the kind of surprising, compelling, emotional immersion that permeates Fable II. It’s a game that rewards experimentation and exploration, not dogged single-minded persistence, in subtly brilliant ways. And while it’s true that my fat, greedy whore-killing hero has probably had his time in Albion, the world’s constant flux means the game still has other stories to tell – and I’m looking forward to hearing them all.

Kspiess, I agree. I prefered The Lost Chapters (not because of the additional content) on the PC over the original 360 release simply for the higher resolution and tighter controls. I'm in the same boat as you man...

Right now a 360 only costs $199 plus $29 USD for a hard drive if you want one. Is it really worth it to miss out on Fable 2 and Gears 2, or wait several years for them to come to PC? If they ever are released for PC.

According to my fiance.......YES!!! I've already cluttered up the living room with PS3 and accessories, PS2 and accessories, and of course the Wii and a whole frickin' truck load of accessories. 360 might make her leave my ass!!! LMAO

Sublime and Refreshing; this title deserves all the praise that it gets. Im now remotivated to purchase this. Such a powerful title and alongside Gears of War 2, this holiday season looks for me to be on my 360 the most.

I love Microsofts constant lowering of prices. I seriously urge someone who hasnt got a 360 yet to seriously consider it; its fast becoming my most enjoyable console of the 3.

That is of course, until MH3 comes out for Wii

I am so glad to see Fable getting all these great reviews..

But with both Fable 2 and LBP getting rave reviews, I can't help but wonder if the bar will be set too high for Fallout 3..

Thats true. The sad thing would be for any title this holiday season to get lost amongst the crowd and fail to get the credit it deserves. Let us hope that Fallout 3 has enough merits to be seen and played; enjoyed by many.

LBP reviews surprised me actually. Quite low for a game of this nature. Then again, reviews for the game at this stage are somewhat meaningless; as user-generated content holds the true staying power for this game.

LBP reviews low? Metacritic has its current average at a 96. Or did you mean Fable 2?

He's probably talking about the BS 'user ratings'. That has been more or less confirmed to be idiots/fanboys spamming the system.

And it damn well should be this good, considering how much work has gone into it.

Shame it's on 360; I haven't the money this season for one.

Its ok Red9, Resistance 2 will be just as good and I can see you pwning up on it. ^__^

It's good to see that there are other users on Neo who are good-natured towards their fellow 'Seekers.

Pwn I will, On Resistance 2. Maybe I'll see you online?

As for my name, nope, it's actually based off of Ace Combat 4's radio chatter. But if it's also a gun from RE4, then that's all fine n' dandy as well!

You most certainly will. Just gotta get my PS3 back from repairs! Cannot believe I miss out on LittleBigPlanet!

Lets hope Fable II can keep me well occupied.

If you do get Resistance 2 Red9, we should add each other! Ill enjoy playing with another mature member on the Gamegrep community.

Give us Fable II for the PC please, we want to play it. It's not fair. They give us Fable for PC then Fable II becomes an xbox exclusive

Despite the ability for me to pick up this title; I truly feel for the PC gamers. Between this and Gow2, PC gamers are missing out. They have been given snippets; the first in each of the respective series, to enjoy and accustom to. Yet the sequels to such games, are not offered to them.

I really do hope they change their mind on this.

I am sure they will change their minds on this... Look at Mass Effect... just give Microsoft time to give Epic and Lionhead the green light, they just want the 360 version to get their time int he sun...

Believe me, with all the money Microsoft is pumping into their awareness and marketing campaigns for Live for Windows, they don't want to piss off or entirely alienate their PC base - in fact they are trying to grow it.
