Personally, I wasn't expecting much from this, and if I was still doing reviews probably would have brutalized this game (that is why saner, more rational editors write for me now, lol).

Reports popping up on forums regarding issues non World Tour controllers, the inability to port songs from previous Guitar Hero games (Rock Band 2 library import was a big game changer), and IMHO a mediocre track list despite the "make your own track" option, just isn't enough for me to pick this up and put down Rock Band 2.

Following a couple of false starts – Guitar Hero III was underwhelming and the less said about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith the better – developer Neversoft has finally nailed down a worthy rhythm game competitor in their latest effort, Guitar Hero: World Tour. Barring a few notable flaws, the game’s fantastic track list, solid note charts and overarching focus on user-created features is nothing short of a near-death revival. World Tour was going to sell well either way, but fans will be pleased to know they’ve got a contender here rather than another tired pretender.
