Only the Games' Erik Rapson writes his review for Bethesda Game Studios' latest release, Fallout 3. It scores a five out of five citing the combat system as the only real flaw, and praising its delivery of narrative.

At its heart, Fallout 3 is an enigma ready to be unravelled. Through intrepidly envisioning the series as their own, Bethesda has crafted an experience that resonates in a new age. Perhaps the combat lacks identity and punch, but much of this wholly realized vision is intrinsically tied to your sense of place and your weight on a ravaged world. Another triumph of first person narrative, along every step of your journey the remnants of a million tragic tales lay at your feet. Now the choice is yours to taint that little bit of new hope, or strive to keep it alive.

What is it with reviewers giving a game a perfect score despite finding a flaw, i mean to be honest a flaw with the combat system is a pretty big flaw as you will be using the combat system every 2-3 minutes in a game that lasts 100 hours, you will get to use it lots, if people don't like it then thats game over.

Perfect games don't exist, therefore perfect scores don't either. By your judgement games should be graded like an exam. They are far too organic for the stale system you seem to want reviewers to use. I can name several websites that will feed your disillusionment, but I have a feeling that you already visit them regularly.

"combat lacks identity" - hmm, I disagree with that, from the unique death animations, the VATS targeting system and interesting combat options (shoot the grenade in vats while midair or as the guy still has it in his hand about to throw to detonate, building your own weaponry from junk, watching a enemies skull explode and eyeball land at your foot).... I'd say those were pretty unique and gives combat identity/distinguishes it from just being another shooter.
