Engadget did a test of the Elite versus the Classic version of the console. After reading the article I must say it was rather disappointing. How is this Elite? it does not seem very "Elite" to me. Unless by "Elite" Microsoft means because it's black and sports a larger hard drive. However, I don't call that Elite and it does not justify the larger price tag.
Engadget found out that the audio was the exact same. Temperature wise and noise output were also the same. With the Elite you can take advantage of 1080p but you can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 1080i. They mentioned that the power button was a bit more "clickier".
So, there you have it Microsofts idea of "Elite" aka "Buy it because it's black, we'll charge you 2x as much, you can be just as cool". As Engadget mentions in the article, save your money and just buy a larger hard drive and install it yourself in your classic XBOX 360.

Anyway, like I said from the beginning, the Elite isn't much different then the premium. If it would have included Wifi, ran cooler, and had a built-in HDDVD player, then it would of been worth it.
