A review of Spyro The Dragon: Dawn of the Dragon. The author pinpoints what works for the game, and all the aspects of the game that don't work for it.

Spyro, my old friend, what have they done to you? I remember when you first busted out on the scene, you were a plucky dragon facing off against an evil sorceress who commanded an army of rhino things. Now, it seems that you've seen a few too many epic fantasy movies and read the Big Book of Genre Cliches and taken every word to heart. You also forgot how to be fun.

    Every time they release a Spyro game, I get my hopes up. Every time I'm left completely disappointed ;_;

    I admit that I didn't read the source article. But . . . I miss the original Spyro way too much to read about or play his newer games.

    Spyro . . . died on the PS1, when Insomniac left him out in the cold. The PS2-and-onward Spyro is not the real one. He is merely a badly created clone. RIP Spyro, we'll always remember you.

    Yeah seriously. Does anyone NOT realize that every game beyond Year of the Dragon is complete shit? The original Spyro games and original Crash Bandicoot games are probably two of the most incredible platforming masterpieces the gaming world will ever see. Selling those franchises were horrible ideas and they'll never get the same fame they did in the 90s.

    YOTD was one of the greatest games I have ever played. It still is. Great story, characters, gameplay, everything. Even the graphics flowed well for 1999/2000. I might go pop it in in a bit.

    Enter the Dragonfly is where it started to fade away. The rushed the game and because of that the game was: shorter than supposed to be, less gems, bad framerate and less dragonflies. God, I still remember that awful framerate.

    Oh God. I remember the game only limited to 9 levels. *bleep* Universal Interactive.

    I haven't bought a Spyro game since Ripto's Rage for the PSX. I'm not sorry I did.
