Despite claims that the game can be completed in under 12 hours, after going through the demo a few times last night I now know this is a title I will want to own simply to keep experimenting with alternate routes and tactics AND for the wide open possibilities DLC for this title brings to the table.

Utopia always seems like a great idea until you realize that it’s actually being run by a freedom-hating Establishment who wants you to be content only as long as it doesn’t interfere with their plans. It doesn’t even matter what those plans are, especially since the folks in charge aren’t talking. Just make a point of not getting in the way.

The city constructed by EA’s Digital Illusions CE studio for Mirror’s Edge is just such a false utopia. It is a place where information is suppressed or at least heavily censored at every opportunity. An underground exists in the city’s upper reaches of all places. Here, nimble couriers fearlessly run, leap and dive between skyscraper rooftops to get from A to B with C still in hand. They do this because in the world of Mirror’s Edge, everybody is trying to shoot the messenger.

This game looks pretty good. I will be for sure renting this. Mostly because I can't afford to buy anymore games after getting Fallout 3, Fable II and soon L4D.

I hear you Lord. I am at the end of my leash also. I think this along with L4D is it for me for the rest of the year. So many stellar titles came out at the same time, and while I'm lucky to get some for free because of my job, there are countless others I miss out on trying to be a responsible gamer on a budget.

Thank god for trade-ins at some retailers.

I've seen a lot of people say its short, but im not complaining. They said uncharted was short, but I loved it so much I played through the game 3 times and got 100%.

And yeah I agree with you Daigoji Gai, I need to be more responsible with my money. But at the same time, I don't want to sell my games.

Link - you nailed it. A short game could have tremendous replay value making it more than worth the original cost of entry (since quite a few games are one shot deals)... I've already been through the office review copy a few times now, simply trying new things out, and I've had to cut myself off today to save myself for the final version.

Won't be for everyone, some people will fly through it, cry foul and say it sucks... I am just hoping enough people get behind this game, too many great games don't get their time to shine (Beyond Good and Evil) which often hurts sequel chances and the dev's pockets (cost of developing the game). Thankfully some titles do find cult status (Beyond Good and Evil) and get rediscovered....

I keep bringing up Beyond Good and Evil because it was unfortunate that game was ignored, but thankfully it got the credit it deserves (and some guys at Ubisoft fought for a sequel) and now it is on the way.

Long story short: For the naysayers, at least rent it and give it a shot. The demo is a nice taste of what it offers, but there is much much more.

Great to hear it's got the replay value! After hearing about the length I was a little worried, but hopeful. I get the impression I'll be playing it for years to come, on and off..yum yum.

The polarization in opinion is very interesting..kinda just makes me love the game more though haha.
