Now that the "New Xbox Experience" is out, CVG has been fiddling, and now they've published their take on it, in a "love/hate" format. Care to read ?

Xbox 360 owners worldwide are currently fiddling around with Microsoft's New Xbox Experience, creating avatars and generally feeling all life-styley.

We've been messing around with the redesigned dashboard for a few weeks now and have had plenty of time to jot down what we like - and dislike - about the console's new face. Without further ado then, here are our NXE loves and hates....

sony is blocking all its content on netflix for those that want to view it through the xbox. this is just amazing. So if your a netflix subscriber with an unlimited instant view account and a gold membership on live u cannot watch anything from sony in the netflix watch now library. Sony is acting like a bunch of babies with this. this needs to be dealt with.

I wouldn't call them babies.....businessmen for sure. Can't say I really blame them, after all Microsoft IS the competition and they have their own movie store they want people to use.

Bullshit. Sony also sells computers, you don't see Microsoft blocking Sony from having Windows on said computers.

Besides, wouldn't allowing Sony films give them more money anyway?

Don't ask me man, I'm not on their executive board and have no idea why they're doing it. They may have contract in place that prevents microsoft from doing that with the software. Who knows really. That's really kind of comparing apples to oranges though.

There have been MANY MANY times when Sony does something and I just shake my head and walk away. Personally I don't think anyone wins in this situation because XBOX users will be bent they don't get to watch Sony films and I'm bent I don't get to use my PS3 to watch my Netflix movies.

you said it perfectly slient. this is really just being sore losers and its going to affect sony in sales. i own a ps3 and this is just another reason why i buy more games on my 360. and for the movie store arguement, that is not even relevant. Netflix is not a movie store! Sony allows its content to be viewed through someones computer or on the netflix tv attachment. so that would also affect sales right? no...they just dont want xbox streaming their content. BABIES!

Guys - hold on. You do realize that in order for content to be displayed in specific formats and on specific machines you need licensing agreements. This is not the same as Sony making PCs and not blocking Microsoft OS installation - totally different ball game.

This may not simply be a matter of Sony being a sore loser - licensing agreements are no joke these days and requires a lot of legal wrangling. I don't find it strange these films are being blocked until Sony (as a business) is sure that the agreements in place ensures that Netflix and Microsoft don't eat up all the profit from their films and that Sony gets their cut for the distributions of their films on a new platform.

The decline to comment is a smart move - as if this is what it sounds like - licensing agreement negotiations, they can be tricky and you don't want to say anything that would compromise the negotiations (or if he is bound by a NDA).

This is a tricky issue here - and I don't blame Sony for pulling those films (if it was a direct act of pulling and not something trivial like an agreement expiring) to ensure they get their due share.

Think about it, before you accuse these companies of being bitter.

And let's not forget it's not Sony pictures that are being pulled it's COLUMBIA PICTURES that are being pulled. They are owned by Sony, but still act as a separate company. My understanding is that you can still watch Sony films.
