Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing
19 hours 40 mins ago
While talking with James Walker during The Bender podcast the other day, he mentioned he was playing a copy of Sonic Unleashed that Sega gave him to review. By the tone of his voice I could already tell things were not going well with the game. Finally the review is up and posted, where the one big flaw the game has is shown... the "Werehog"
....The pre-rendered cutscenes are quite beautiful to watch, and the in-game cutscenes are what you would expect from a Sonic game. The environments are bright and colorful, as they should be, and some of the particle effects are rather pretty to stare at. But then again, I'm not entirely sure you could screw up the look of a Sonic game unless you slap him in a gunmetal gray power plant for the entire adventure. The in-game music is, for the most part, well done. However, there is this one particular song that plays every time you engage in a fight as the Werehog that makes you feel like you should be playing the slots at the Golden Nugget. Its terribly out of place and after the eighteen-bajillionth time of hearing it, may very well be capable of driving a man to murder. The voice acting is nearly as insufferable, with the new character of "Chip" possessing what could very well be the most nerve-grating voice in the history of man.
Look, here's the deal. When you are actually playing as Sonic, the game is a blast. Sure, it's a bit shallow but I can overlook that when I'm actually having fun. Here's the problem: The Werehog parts are so bad, so uninspired and fundamentally yawn-inducing that you (and by "you", I mean "me") just don't feel it's worth the time to tread forward for the three minutes of awesomeness that comes with actually being able to run absurdly fast.

I'm enjoying this game, it's just as fun as the old time game I had. Sure the Werewolf thing sounds weird at first but it's actually pretty unique and different.
If people disagree or start an argument, that isn't my problem. I stated why I loved it, and that's that. I don't have time to keep defending my posts, just cause some puppets who jump on the hate train with every little thing, to be apart of this cool kids club. Get over it. My views are different, my taste is different. I am who I am. Like it or hate it, I just don't care. Now can you stop assuming shit, cause I'm tired of it.
Which isn't a bad thing. I love plenty of games other people feel are crappy (Lost Planet is one of my favorite games, I've already bought it twice). Where as other games that get far too much praise for I have no clue what reason (Gears of War 1 and 2, both I have played extensively, and always come out thinking the game is not only overrated, but not that good either). I don't think there is a 'great train' involved, that would be silly.
I like your opinions on some things Final Blade, but others you should put more thought into backing up instead of blaming a hate train. See what points are valid and invalid on peoples words (or not, whatever, but I can definitely see how people would think you're commenting negatively for attention).
I just keep reading the hordes of people claiming this game or that sucks, and it truly is disappointing. People and views like this, which are closed minded, are the bane of all things. It what makes good games look like shit and people put off cause of them. Home for instance. My views are always from my standpoint well thought out. But that's where you and I differ. I don't care if people agree with me, sure it's nice, but hardly means anything. I don't expect people to agree with me anyway. I've learned that since posting here and Neo.
"My views are always from my standpoint well thought out. But that's where you and I differ."
C'mon now, no need for underlying insults in a discussion.
What of the many Home articles are you referring to? Who isn't an individual here with their own opinions? Is it wrong to hate Home? Sonic? Etc? Does a gathering of opinions that differ from yours all of a sudden make it a 'hate train' (i'm definitely still not seeing how you claim stuff is a train of hate)?

Has some pretty closed minded and uninformed replies. One most people claim it's a game when it's a Networking Social application to help build the online communities tighter. The games within the application are to pass the time, a waiting room if you will, when setting up a room to play on a game. It's no different then being in an airport and going into the mini stores or buying Bagels and coffee or anything else. It's there to pass the time.
Yea people may not find it that great now, and that's fine, but don't make it out to be a game or say it sucks and get people off it. If you don't enjoy it, fine don't use it and allow others to enjoy it if they do. But posting stuff like this to get people off and give them false information is what really pisses me off. You can PM me and continue this PacoDG if you think we're being off topic here.
But honestly, that isn't what this article is about, and I got severely off track. My point is this: I can appreciate your opinion on a game considered cruddy by the majority, and I can understand your reasoning fully. But when your opinion is the negative of other peoples' opinions in 90% of the many articles you post in, your purposes can come off as a little fishy. I most certainly don't ride the hate train. I certainly used to, but now I fully express my opinion on matters, if the opportunity presented before me interests me. Now, I comment on other peoples' views if they correlate with mine, or they are opposite to mine if his or her opinion is not well thought out.
Sorry buddy, couldn't resist.
I think Sega is almost there, what they screwed up on here was the werehog bit, if it was all running, it would of gotten a better score.
And Tails, Kill him, or at least give him a deeper voice for *bleep*s sake >>;
Everyone complains about the new Sonic games being crap, but they continue to come out with new titles anyway... which leads me to believe people are buying them regardless.
