I'm planning to get one of these. I use the PS3 browser a lot, and a USB keyboard isn't my cup of tea.

Me too. It'll be weird hav ing that attached to your sixaxis though. I hope it's light.

Man, are you serious? I hear all these good things about it but I don't feel like getting it right now. . . I guess after bills are paid and I feel like blowing $55, I'll get it. Still hoping it goes down in price though. I know it's not too much, but still . . .

Until then, I'll just use my full keyboard.

It looks either top heavy, or always flipping forward when you type.

Hence why it clips onto the controller.

... that was my point exactly.

It can't flip forward if you're putting pressure on the keypad. The probably weight of the keypad itself is probably a large component in what keeps it on there.

It's not actually top-heavy when attached to the controller. With both connected, it weighs roughly what a DualShock controller for a ps2 console did.

It's actually very comfortable. The only reason I never got one is because the keys are not backlit. I really can't believe they left that out.

Probably because they don't expect you to be playing in a dark room. I'm sure it's not overly difficult to see the letters.

I don't usually play in a brightly lit room, and I'm sure many other gamers do too. Besides that, everything is backlit today. Cell phones, many laptop keyboards, the XBOX 360 chat pad, etc. For them to release this thing with Bluetooth, a touch sensitive keypad, and at that price tag, backlit keys is the last thing I would have expected to be left off.

I definitely understand what you mean. But then again I'm sure it'll be like any keyboard. Once you get used to the layout, you won't have to look at the keys to type. You'll be able to type in a dark room after a while. Hopefully.

Except that this keypad goes onto the TOP of the PS3 controller, not the bottom, and you control the on-screen mouse by using the keypad as a touchpad. And even if this is "ripping off" the idea, doesn't mean it shouldn't be made available for PS3.

This keypad is old news. It sounds like you're just now hearing about this keypad for the PS3. In fact, it's quite old . . . it released last fall, and was in the news/plans over a year ago.

Also, they definitely don't look practically the same. The only thing that's the same is that it's has the same letters on it and it used to text communicate. Other than that . . .

one is black, one is white
One goes on the top, one goes on the bottom
One is rectangular, the other is . . . weird shaped.
One also acts as a mouse, one does not
One has more than a keyboard but also shortcut keys for certain features, one does not

There are more differences than similarities. So how do you get "looks practically the same"? If you don't like Sony or this keypad, just say it. No need to try to give some logical reason to hate it, through illogical reasonings

I never knew it was backlit, that's pretty sick.

Which one, the 360 one? Yeah that's pretty nice Makes me wonder if it's possible to mod the PS3 one to be backlit . . . I'm sure either way, someone will do it!

Just bought one. :3 It's pretty convenient, and doesn't take a whole lot of getting used to. Haven't used it while attached to any six-axis sensing games. Don't think it'll mess with your mojo on that level though.

HisServant, I know what you're saying about getting used to it like any keyboard, but the way this pad is setup, it's just like a cell phone with a full qwerty, and for the most part, I definitely have to look at what I'm pressing on my phone, mainly because the buttons are so small.

Yeah that's what I thought about the moment I submitted the comment. I know what you mean. Hopefully though it's not too bad and it can be gotten used to. If not, then that's a downer for me since I like to type fast and not looking at the keys as I type.
