IGN reviews Fear 2 praising it's shooter credentials, and saying that it does exactly what it itends to do by getting under your skin. However, it's online play is only standard, and will easily be lost under the plethora of great online shooters already available.

8.5 Presentation
The story takes a bit of time to spool up, but the second half of the game takes off. There are plenty of answers this time around, as well.

8.5 Graphics
The visuals feel workmanlike, but with some outstanding special effects and lighting. It looks good on the consoles, but far better on the PC.

8.5 Sound
Sound plays a big role in providing atmosphere, and there are noises in this game that can raise the hair on the back of your neck.

8.0 Gameplay
The trademark blend of action and horror is back, but we’ve been inoculated to the horror elements a bit by now.

7.5 Lasting Appeal
The multiplayer suite is competent and traditional, but it’s difficult to distinguish in a crowded field of online shooters.

8.3
Impressive OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Good review, the review should be a 8.5-9 for most people though, since who buys a game like FEAR for online play? I'll have to look more into it before deciding of I want to buy it.

Game looks promising, but I'll probably just rent it for the campaign aspect, as the demo had me scared shitless.
