PlayStation Universe has published its review for Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, awarding the game a score of 3.0/10. The team at PSU only really seemed to like the zombie-themed storyline, whilst lack of exciting moments and sub-standard A.I. were its downfall.

While it’s slightly unfair of me to compare Shellshock 2 to Killzone 2, as they’re worlds apart in terms of development budgets, you’d expect most developers to at least try to implement some of the features that the current generation of gamers demand from a modern day shooter, or failing that, to concentrate on making the gameplay exciting and technically acceptable. Shellshock 2, however, gets a lot of things wrong and doesn't even try to attempt to stand out from the crowd, or take any risks. This is a FPS-by-numbers approach to the genre, complete with uninspiring visuals and bland design that would have looked out of place five years ago.

Sounds as though he was a bit unfair.

    quote article
The lack of a cover system means that you just run around like a headless chicken picking off lifeless (in both senses of the word) zombie-fied soldiers.

Not many First Person games have cover system do they? And he himself said that he wasn't in the right frame of mind after playing KZ2 for a while.

Any FPS would fair badly being reviewed after Killzone 2. Not saying it's a godly shooter but it is probably the best shooter since Call of Duty 4. Shellshock didn't stand a chance but due to the reviewer i'm going to say that the game is probably good but not great and well worthy of atleast 7/10, though it was funny seeing the reviewer almost calling first person cover as if it's old hat, i mean Killzone 2 is pretty much a pioneer and it's going to take years to come as standard, the reviewer is too quick off the mark on that lol
