One of Microsofts heavy hitters for the 2009 lineup is not far from release, and IGN have posted their reviews (from US,UK,AU teams).

I shall not reveal the score for the freakishly cool ones amongst you who want to click the link and wait with anticipation as the html loads, but it is well written and makes some fair points!

Take Halo 3. Pause the game mid-combat. Now, pull the camera out of the back of Master Chief's skull and position it high above the battlefield. Resume play. That's Halo Wars - or at least, that's certainly the best way to describe how it looks – all the chaos of the far-future battlefield, the intricate animations, spectacular lighting effects, swarms of grunts and spiralling grenades – and there you are, with your cursor conducting the chaos and destruction like any good strategy gamer should.

halo wars; making rts gaming accessible to annoying 11 year-old xbl fags who will never finish a single multiplayer game ever because everyone who has anything to do with halo is a sore *bleep*ing loser.

yeah whatever, rts is lame. to hell with halo wars.

I totally agree. I am really hoping to find myself amongst some mature hardcore players in the Halo Wars community, not 11yr old screaming *bleep* who bitch and moan everytime something doesnt go their way.

oo Caught me there. Im actually a secret XBOX360 Fanboy who wants it to dominate and close down Sony and Nintendo. And I know your all incapable of clicking the links to the other review teams reviews so I put the 9.0 score there to ensure it had the highest score possible.

GEARS PWNS HALO ROCKS, PS3 SUCKS LULZBBQ.
DONT BUY PS3 NO GAMES ZZZZZ YA KNOW?

Man, were just luckily there not talking about Killzone 2 or something. Pang tong would be up in arms. He would be absolutely LIVID at the fact that a site would DARE, would even THINK about giving a PS3 exclusive a 9. I mean HOW DARE THEY EVEN THINK THAT.

But it doesn't matter because MS secretly own IGN and secretly own all of the gaming industry. Of course this is all kept hush hush from sony who don't know any better.

You sure were. Making a point out of nothing.
And although Halo is overrated, over the past few weeks ive grown to appreciate the series a lot more. Not everyone hates it.

Which makes me wonder why your here..

As I said on the other article, Halo Wars is really fun and such and has changed my perspective on Halo games. (Based on the demo.)

But again, I WISH THEY'D MAKE IT FOR THE PC AS WELL.

you clearly dont seem to understand what halo is for - its for boosting xbox sales. most of the xbox 360 target demographic prefer the PC over the 360 to begin with, and taking pretty much the biggest exclusive and adding it to the PC right away would just ruin the system. @_@

xbox gamers are just pc gamers that dont care for computer gaming. kinda.

really enjoyed the demo and i cant wait till release. the controls for halo wars is among the best i have used in console rts games.

also i dont understand why every article that deals with halo turns into some kind of ridiculous argument. wtf?

Gamespot gave it a 6.0 or something.

      Slumpy monkey Feb 24, 09
Its a mixed bag really, its averaged at 82 on meta and Gamespot gave it a 6.5 and game shark gave it a 100 Of xbox gave it a 90 and edge gave it a 70.

I guess it really goes to show the diversity of reviews and you can never rely on just one review but its better to go with the general consensus.

I think a problem is that reviewers are treating it as a PC rts, rather than a Rts that been built to work on consoles.

That makes sense, but not being to fully play as the Covenant/Flood does suck, and I agree with Gamespot. The game feels half done.

          Slumpy monkey Feb 24, 09
How would you know? You haven't played it. Sure if you had played it then fine. But saying "I agree with them, it feels half done" when you haven't played the game isn't really a valid statement to make tbh. You can play as covenant too.

    Blaze Feb 24, 09
I have played it, and Covenant is only playable in Multiplayer, not Campaign.

Yes I have played it also, otherwise I wouldn't have stated that.
    • 1
      Slumpy monkey Feb 24, 09
But the game isn't out yet. So how can you base your half-done argument on the demo?

I haven't played the full version either, so I don't know if it sucks. But your argument doesn't stand without actually playing the full game.

        You made a good argument.

Maps probably, only maps. Halo 3 was pretty much that too.

        Slumpy monkey Feb 25, 09
Yeah, But there bringing out that OSDT Expansion pack. So maybe ensemble will do that with this, but instead of OSDT it will be a flood campaign or something.

          Blaze Feb 25, 09
Sounds good, but doesn't ODST come with the mythic map pack?

The problem with reviews is that its always gonna be the RTS that should have been on PC, and many probably overlook it as "AN RTS done right on a console".

And In my opinion, its understandable from a certain point of view. I mean, if ANY 1 RTS could surpass Starcraft in hype and popularity, I would imagine it would be a Halo RTS.

On the flipside, the RTS genre is trying to break into console ground PROPERLY, rather than have ports with messy controls.

The game sadly falls victim to opinions from both sides of the fence and therefore the review scores are widespread.
