Intern Perry is back with another review, this time we give him Resident Evil 5, to which he approves, however he finds the game still has some flaws. Go to source for full review.

Overview

The game isn’t overly scary (though it definitely picks up in the later chapters), and I do miss the “THIS GAME CONTAINS SCENES OF EXPLICIT VIOLENCE AND GORE” disclaimer right before the title screen. Yet, RE5 makes up for the lack of freights with absorbing gameplay and intense arcade action.

Getting used to the clunky controls is the biggest problem, but the trick with RE5 is to learn to play it the way it’s meant to be played (e.g. use quick reload rather than reloading from the menu, learn the quick turn, etc). Still, Chris’s sluggish movements will likely lead to many a chainsaw decapitation, something I’m sure many of you aren’t very fond of. But with the online play, trophy/achievement support, and countless unlockables, you’ll likely find yourself revisiting RE5 again and again.

Breaking it down:

* If you liked RE4: there’s no reason not to own this game, as it improves upon it in every single way.
* If you tried RE4, but it wasn’t your bag of chips: do yourself a favor and give RE5 a chance, you’ll be pleasantly surprised (I fall into this category).
* And if you haven’t played RE4 yet: what the hell’s wrong with you?
