TGS reviews Fallout 3's "The Pitt" expansion and is strongly disappointed. Whereas Fallout 3 was a great game, the current DLC offerings and expansions are not living up to Bethesda's historically respectable reputation.
Fallout 3 expansion “The Pitt” is now here and I want to cry. I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but these are not tears of joy that are about to stream down my ruddy cheeks. These tears are equal parts disillusion, disappointment, and anger; disillusion with Bethesda, disappointment at the final result of all Fallout 3 DLC thus far, and anger at having completely wasted 800 Microsoft points.

"I must say I loved The Pitt, but it has set some high expectations for me for the next DLC Broken Steel. I mean, the story and variety of things you get to do (collecting ingots, fighting trogs, [THE ARENA] and of course the whole political struggle and which side you choose) is great... Broken Steel must deliver that epic conclusion and tie off some nagging loose strings with some of the NPC companions and events in the game.
CAN'T WAIT!"
Fallout 3 is vastly overrated IMHO. Good game, but not worthy of winning all those many awards. (Disclaimer: just my personal opinion. )
That said: Fallout 3 (at least ont he PC) is an amazing platform. All you have to do is browse fallout3.nexus.com to see the abundance of great content available. I use the repair rethink mod which allows you to use "logical" components for repairs. All those tin cans I can use to fix metal armor and some guns, belts to fix leather, batteries to fix energy weapon, etc. Improved Dogmeat allows him to level up with me, gives him a knock down attack, and allows you to dope him up on pharms. Also have installed Mortagen's Monster pack, which adds randomly generating (but placed logically) creatures, respawns dungeons, and adds new encounters. The new perk pack adds over 50 new perks with unique icons and includes many perks from earlier fallout games. The weapon modification mod I have installed allowed me to install a new workbench in my house that allows me to customize weapons with silencers, scopes, lasersights - all with new models to show the enhancements. For the open ended gameplay, the rich lore they were able to add their own unique twist on, and the fact (at least on the PC) Fallout 3 will remain viable and alive until FO4 comes out thanks to new content daily, I kinda think they do deserve the awards. Nice blending of classic fallout with modern gameplay design = teh win.
"Hey you slave! Go get me Steel Ingots"
"[Perception]k

"Wow that's a lot of ingots. Here you go slave take these guns, because here at the Pitt arming the slaves is cool yo"
Add in extra "*bleep*s" where ever you like and were close the the magical recipe for good Beth RPG writing.
The fact that you Miller, say it shouldn't have been released, just proves how goddamn incompetent you are.
Way to reference the steel ingots quest, when the Pitt has so much more depth to it, the fact that your allowed to choose sides later on in the DLC, the backstory you get and also the graphical sides of the Pitt are fantastic to look at.
"Hey you Miller! Get the *bleep* out of this news!"
