Electronic Theatre provides an in-depth analysis of Electronic Arts' The Godfather II, due for release on Xbox360, PLAYSTATION3 and PC this Friday throughout Europe.

With the detail involved in its missions and the constantly progressive storyline, classifying The Godfather II as just another Grand Theft Auto clone would be almost criminal. The strategic balance of income, variety of gameplay opportunities and three entirely separate locations may mean The Godfather II isn’t blessed with the finesse of Grand Theft Auto IV, but it’s certainly a more structured experience. In fact, if ever there was a testament to the fact that RockStar Games had laid down the law of free-roaming videogames, The Godfather II would most certainly be it: in trying not to be labelled another Grand Theft Auto clone, The Godfather II plays most similarly to Canis Canem Edit (or Bully: Scholarship Edition).
