..cause it's so pretty!

Our feature writer Lydia Sung has turned her Demigod addiction into something positive with this latest Neoseeker review.

If you're craving something fresh in the RTS realm, and/or have a hankering for RPGs, Demigod may well be your ticket.

More and more, the lines separating video game genres are being blurred, combining gameplay mechanics to create interesting new fusions. Gas Powered Games contributes to this growing list with Demigod, a strategy title that lead designer Mark Marr describes as an "RTS-RPG."

Demigod carries all the basic elements of RTS, and if I were to forcefully categorize it, I would still call it such. But key features set it apart from other RTS titles, and various complexities place Demigod in a league of its own.

Great review. I had a feeling this game was going to be pretty sweet. Too bad I won't be able to play it until I get some beefier hardware.

Must agree, in my review I mention the debacle that occured over the past 72 hours. I've been in chat since Sunday with other demi players, Brad "Frogboy" the ceo of stardock and the executive producer of demigod, and other Stardock employees. Basically Gamespot leaked copies early + (because of Frogboy's faith in pc gamers) demigod shipped with no dlc - which meant the beta servers (which should have just been for us reviewers and a few betatesters selected by Frogboy) were bombarded with new users - causing issues with connectivity.

I would checked in Monday night at 2am, and last night around 3am, and sure enough the CEO of Stardock/Executive producer was in the ingame irc chat, helping users and providing constant updates.

Monday was Stardock's day off, and they scrambled (and lit fire it sounds like to GPG) to get the game servers live a day early (they were scheduled for the 14th) and thus far have released 2 patches to fix the connectivity issues.

I don't know about you guys, but I've never seen a CEO for a publisher, let alone an Executive Producer invest so much time in the community. It was amazing to watch, even as the Stardock gang dealt with vitriol from impatient and angry gamers wanting to play Demigod.

I was blown away watching them deal with the community over the past 72 hours. I wish all game company's were like this.

Yeah, he messaged me on Twitter saying I could look him up if I had any questions while reviewing the game. Pretty nice gesture on his part.

Ack no! Not DotA! *runs away*

I'm kidding, I know DotA is a great map but people's addiction to it makes me cringe, especially when there are quite a few other decent AoS maps out there. Anyway it looks like I might have to check this game out, it sounds interesting.

    game is aaaaawesome.

i have to disagree about the missing campaign mode aspect tho, i wish there was a bit more single player stuff to do. tournament mode tides me over pretty well, i guess. it's pretty neat on the high difficulties.

I'm surprised with the early great reviews. The game looked more like a mediocre title to me. Guess I was wrong!
