A Rant On Bosses: Final Fantasy & Shank

I was on the fence. Our former senior games editor saw an early version of the game and wasn't impressed - but I kept hope alive though it was tempered by his lack of enthusiasm. That all changed once Thierry Nguyen got his hands on the final version and confirmed that InFamous is infact a great exclusive title for the PS3!
Besides platforming, Cole also participates in a fair amount of combat. He starts with a pretty basic "shoot lightning from his fist" type of power; most of the skirmishes featured Cole moving around fast during aiming-mode (pressing and holding L1) and flinging lightning rapidly by pressing R1. While spamming the basic lightning attack serves as the backbone of combat, Cole eventually gains powers that let him do things like throw grenades, "force push" anything in front of him, perform sniper shots, fire rocket-like projectiles, create a force-field, and even conjure a lightning storm from the sky. It's worth noting that Cole can basically fire from any position -- moving about or dangling from precarious wires or ledges -- and that skilled players are ones who can blend several of his powers together to pull off advanced moves like sticking grenades onto someone and throwing that enemy at his buddies, or creating an electric charge on an opponent's cover point (i.e. a car he's ducked behind) to draw him out of cover and into the open.

The grades go like this:
A+ being the greatest (100% and above if they have bonus points)
A
A-
B+
B
B-
C+
C (Average)
C-
D+
D
D-
F+
F (Failed)
F-
(But then most of the time there is no + or - on an F. An F is just an F . . . failing)
On a 10-point grading scale A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79, D = 60-69, F = below
