John reviews Killing Floor, a survival horror PC title that he considers in many ways to be superior to L4D. If you've got $19.99 and a computer with Steam, why not give it a try?

"Killing Floor clearly didn’t have any Hollywood scriptwriters on board to supervise the story. There aren’t any painstakingly choreographed scripted events to further draw one into the universe Tripwire Interactive has presented here. The game isn’t running on the latest technology, in fact, to put it simply, it’s relatively dated. There’s absolutely no new ground being broken and the setting isn’t remotely unique. To top it off, the entire game is based off of a mod that released for Unreal Tournament 2004 in 2005. So now that I’ve managed to make it sound like an atrocious piece of budget ware, let me explain why it is everything but."

I have the game, and its pretty fun. Its not too hard or too easy.

The patriarch scares the shit out of me though. It turns invisible, has a machine gun, teleports, and a load of health.

Also, they ripped off the designs of some L4D zombie types, like the boomer and hunter

I find the game pretty damn challenging, lol. It's hard to get to the patriarch. He disappears and runs away to heal (max is 4). But yeah, he's bad-ass. Hard is alright, but good god, I don't even want to try suicidal.
