The Hype of Prototype has been huge for those wired to the Game Sites.

Loyal fans who have been anticipating this game for years were continuously disappointed by set backs in the release dates of the game, but many game reviews such as this one from NY Daily News have been arguing that this game just isn't that good.

As the war drags on between fans of Prototype who continuously keep reiterating that this is a great game even though Prototype does have jerky controls and a hard to grasp story line that doesn't just jump into a person's face.

But this is where the game's personal originality jumps in: The Gamer must find out for himself or herself by "consuming" targets of interest and put piece by piece into a puzzle.

This game is definitely different even though the story line is not as original as a avid game critic may have wanted it to be, but they expect too much from the beginning of the game and does not give it enough of a chance to give themselves the satisfaction of figuring out the story for their own minds to comprehend.

All would be forgiven if “Prototype” brought even a hint of innovation to the table, but there is nothing here that adds to the genre. At its core, the game is a collection of features executed more ably in other titles truly worth playing.

I didn't get a chance to play the game because it's not my type of game. I'm not into the hack-n-slash gore-filled games. I like sustenance and plot.

But I'm glad that this didn't compare it to inFAMOUS, because to me the two games seem to be very different indeed!

Plenty of sustenance in Prototype, in fact more or less everybody in NYC is sustenance

Controls are only jerky if you're not used to 3d sandbox games IMO. Anyone who's played through a Spidey game shouldn't have any trouble with them.

Haha, not the type of sustenance I was thinking

Well, actually yeah I was thinking about that when I said it, but that's not what I want Lol.

Well if the controls are that way, then that wouldn't be a problem for me since I'm definitely used to those kinds of games...that's all they meant when everyone says jerky controls?

In either case, it's just not really my type of game, but I'm again glad there wasn't an inFAMOUS vs [Prototype] reference.

what part of jumping from building to building and smashing the ever-loving shit out of mutated monsters doesn't this guy get? this game is like ninja giaden and spiderman put together, and that's what makes it awesome.
if you're playing this game for the story, you're doing it wrong. plain and simple. the proof is in the fact that the plot is displayed via that stupid 'web of intrigue' that they kinda say 'yeah you can skip this movie. also you dont have to read that. HERES A TANK BLOW THAT BUILDING UP FAST!'

also lol@ 'jerky conrols'. gtfo. it plays fine.

Bandito are you just bashing any article that doesnt like Prototype?

Prototype for me is only good when I'm blowing stuff up, I pick it up, spend an hour going on a rampage, then turn it off without even saving. I know it's about the mindless destruction and thats something I like about it, then it's the only thing I like about it. Controls weren't that good either, I completed the game and was still a bit unsure about some moves but they work in the end considering how much it lets you do.

      "without even saving."

      It autosaves..

Can you not switch off autosave? 'cause I'm sure Province wants to rampage without repurcussion, so he turns off autosave, rampages and then can go back to story and whatnot without everything turning to poop and everyone hating him, or whatever.

I haven't played the game, I'm just throwing out the most likely idea from what I know

I'm digging the game myself. Everything seems a tad bit blocky, and yeah the missions aren't all that exciting....but I absolutely LOVE running around the city on top of buildings and the sides!! It's seamless! Honestly this game has been FUN so far!

I wrote a review, would post the link but don't wanna seem like I'm whoring my site. Its on here somewhere. Basic gist was "Really fun, but some annoyances" although the review is considerably longer and in depth.

Not when you directly select "Turn Off Console"...or your power goes cause the Northern Irish weather systems is as *bleep*ed as they come these days

I love games that allow you total destruction. Like Red Faction Guerilla, I feel unstoppable assaulting an EDF base with a few sidekicks and escaping in a MECH. Same with prototype, giving the military hell is FUUUUUUN. I love both these games, but they do have some problems, like Red faction has pop up, clunky car controls and handling, and evil physics(building on a thin support beam doesn't collapse!?). But these are just small quirks, a real gamer would look past these quirks and enjoy the game to the fullest, instead of bitching and moaning and starting a console war.
