Wasn't actually expecting to review Prototype, but hey, Activision decided to send us copies... a week late.

Well, a review is a review, even if it's a last minute surprise. Check out Neoseeker's take on this open world title that's got the gaming community split in two (not an uncommon occurrence). See the verdict, leave some feedback, business as usual.

There's been a lot of talk about Prototype in the short time the game's been out. The gaming community just can't seem to agree on whether this should be marked as successful or a complete bust. It certainly looked promising during our tour of the Radical Entertainment studios.

In Radical's latest IP, we take on the role of sexy Alex Mercer, an amnesiac with a serious problem: everyone is trying to kill him. He wakes up in a morgue with no memory of who he is, where he came from, or how the Hell he wound up in the city morgue with all the other stiffs. On top of that, Manhattan has been overrun by some kind of virus, turning humans into zombie-like creatures called the "Infected." Alex has also been infected by the virus and develops bizarre shapeshifting abilities, which you'll get to use while exploring New York on the verge of collapse.

Only reason it has is because there's two groups of outspoken idiots hell bent on destroying the other game's credibility just because inFamous is a godamned exclusive.

Based on what I've heard about inFAMOUS, I wouldn't really compare the two. Prototype is a decent experience if you're looking for mindless fun, though. I mean, really, people should just enjoy the game for what it is, rather than get all huffy over exclusive this or exclusive that.

I own a PS3 and have played both InFamous and Prototype, Infamous is better in terms of the landscape and detail etc, but Prototype once you get in it is pretty good as Alex has some sweet powers to unlock, both are good games.

A excellent review I felt. Very fair and in depth.

Graphic issues aside, it sounds pretty cool. Alex's powers make him seem sorta like Carnage...if he weren't hideous-looking and could...eat people.

Will definitely get Prototype. Yeah, the Prototype and inFamous comparisons are really getting annoying, there's no point to arguing the two. They may be 'sandbox' games with similar setups (such as unlockable abilities), but that's about all I can think of that the two share. inFamous is an exclusive, no holding back, differed versions, so yeah, it would clearly have more detail and such. But bottom line, it's different.
