Departing from the overpopulated and clichéd city streets of titles such as GTA IV, Saint's Row and Crackdown, Red Faction: Guerrilla prods the free-roaming, open-world sandbox concept in a completely new and fresh direction - the surface of a neo-futuristic, colonised Mars. Players are dropped into the midst of an escalating conflict between the Earth Defence Forces (EDF) and a guerrilla group known as the Red Faction. Stepping into the shoes of the new arrival Alec Mason, who is motivated by revenge, players must join the revolution and help bring the EDF to its knees.
