What happened to the console war?

Jim @ Resume Play reviews the latest SMT game, and as a gamer who isn't too keen on JRPGs as of late, he records Devil Survivor as one of the best he has ever played.
Back in the day I used to be mad for turn-based RPGs, ever since I bought Final Fantasy VII some time back, I would simply pick up loads of JRPGs wherever I saw them, but mainly stayed in sync with the FF series up until Final Fantasy XII. Though a stunning genre of games, and one that has grown into one of the most popular in the west recently, they are very time consuming, and for a gamer such as myself who likes darting backwards and forwards between daily chores and gaming for ten minute intervals, the appeal started to wear off. I suppose you could say another reason is that most JRPGs don’t give you a massive satisfactory bonus on completion, but as of late, I have been trying to get back into the genre, mainly through the Nintendo DS system. Though Disgaea and Final Fantasy IV have led the way for me, I thought I would give Atlus’ newest title a spin, and so I decided to pick up Devil Survivor.
