Electronic Theatre delivers an in-depth review of Tripwire Interactive and Iceberg Interactive's Killing Floor, available now on Steam and at retail across Europe.

The comparisons with Left 4 Dead are inevitable. While it would be easy to state that Killing Floor has taken inspiration from everything from Quake III: Arena to Zombies (also known as Zombies Ate My Neighbours) from the 16-bit era, from Resident Evil’s famously supplementary Mercenaries Mode to the Unreal Tournament series, Left 4 Dead is the most direct current competitor around, and obviously the brightest shining example of the subgenre in recent years. That subgenre into which Killing Floor so easily fits is the co-operative survival-based First-Person Shooter; there is a story behind it all, but it’s entirely superfluous to the action when in the thick of it.
