Bayonetta gets Perfect Score from Famitsu

You might have heard of Bayonetta- that game which takes every opportunity to look up the skirts of a Sarah Palin-lookalike. The game is going to be released next year for the US and EU, but Japan gets it on October 29th. Famitsu has given their review of the game, and have awarded it a perfect 40/40.

Originally posted as internet “white noise” over on Kotaku it has just been confirmed via a congratulatory tweet by Sega that Japanese industry stalwart Famitsu Magazine has dropped a perfect 40/40 figure for it’s review of Bayonetta on the Xbox 360. This adds the Platinum Games developed brawler to the shortlist of hallowed titles listed below. The game is out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in Japan on October 29th and come to the EU and US early next year.

    Famitsu is pretty bad at ratings, it seems. I seem to recall them giving Kingdom Hearts 2 a 39/40 and Final Fantasy XII a 40/40

      The Kingdom Hearts rating i can agree with, but wtf with giving FFXII a perfect?!

      Either way, i'm looking forward to Bayonetta as i'm a big Devil May Cry fan.

          KHII sucked. FFXII was at least better than FFX.

          Had you not been so snide in your original comment, do you think I would have responded arrogantly?

          The main difference between our points, of course, is the generally accepted accuracy of your statement vs. mine. FFXII is widely accepted as a shitty Final Fantasy game. KHII is actually widely accepted to have better gameplay than the original (I'll be honest though, they story is pretty lame).

          KH2 did not suck. i really liked the gameplay. plotwise, i dont know, it was decent. but gameplay was great.

          never played FF12 but ive not heard anything good about it. and i thought FFX was pretty fun, not as good as 7 though...

          It's entirely a matter of where and who. I've heard plenty of people say good things about XII. I've heard more good things about XII than KHII, but I haven't gone to any places looking for people to say good things about KHII.

          Gambit system was great.

          Story was very er... Final Fantasy. I really don't know why people hated it so much. It's annoying as hell, cause they finally start to modernize the gameplay and people bitch.

          Kingdom Hearts II user ratings are overall higher than FFXII's almost everywhere you go. Hard to debate that.

          @SebKus: Not at all. Unless you find MMO's exciting and get a kick out of that type of gameplay, Final Fantasy XII was one of the most disappointing Final Fantasy games ever made. The story was boring, the gameplay was boring, the characters were boring. They certainly didn't "modernize" the gameplay either, as the general battling style has been around for a long time but never caught on in standard RPGs for good reason.

          Look, XII has worth as a story. It has a theme: Throw away your thirst for revenge or you are doomed to forever repeat the past, trapped in cycle of hate and hate; war and war. What was the theme VII, VIII, IX or X? Don't pollute? Love conquers all? They're all great games but the story of XII has actual merit.

          XII has a story, that story happens to be Star Wars Episodes 4 through 6 but there's a story. And I'm sure the plot of that particular series isn't something too many FF fans really enjoy considering the usual stuff.

          Also IX is better, and I really didn't like anything about X aside from Auron.(I had to throw that part in to say my opinion on the series.)

    I was surprised with Bayonetta, game just oozes with so much style I had a lot of fun playing it, any DMC fan especially should check it out.

    For those unaware, there's a PS3 demo on the Japanese PSStore.

        In Japan, you mean -- where they're also forced to apologize in person to publishers who don't like the screened writing (link). In North America and Europe we just get bribed and that's as far as it goes.

      It'll get worse... A lot of first looks in magazines and such really seem to like it. Also it has a very good pedigree. It's an action game coming from one of the top names in the genre.

      People seem to hate it on principal though... I don't get it. Looks good to me, I'm going to rent it for sure.

    The demo made me lol. She is goofy as hell, and a badass to boot. And british I think. And running on walls + ceiling was cool.


    Love the finishers though
