MTV Multiplayer has reviewed the recent Japanese release, Bayonetta, and they werern't impressed, calling it a "flashy, flawed release whose strengths are often overwhelmed by its weaknesses."

If you're planning on playing through "Bayonetta" here's my suggestion: Skip every cutscene, mute the music and ignore everything that seems remotely story related. If you just sit back and enjoy the visuals and fight mechanics, it's a pretty decent experience. Of course, without the cutscenes you're looking at a 4 to 5 hour long game, which brings up problems of its own. In the end, "Bayonetta" is a flashy, flawed release whose strengths are often overwhelmed by its weaknesses."

So that is why I figured I'd not like Bayonetta: I'm a story-driven kinda guy, and apparently the story for Bayonetta isn't really good.

Not the only reason I don't like it, but really kinda reinforces it. Of course this is only one person, so it's taken with a grain of salt. Still not interested in the game though.

These types of games aren't usually story driven to begin with. Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, they usually focus on challenging you as a gamer, not trying to entice you with a good story.

True, the story takes a backseat with these games on most occasions, although we have seen a recent increase in plots and such...though filled with plotholes.

And I'm hearing that this game has some sick gameplay but if I must suffer an oversexed horned up hair wearing whore throughout the whole game, I'll pass.

Seriously their crossing to many lines

except DMC has a pretty good story. might not be too deep or anything, but still good. plus Dante as a character > Bayonetta character.

I tend the have the volume on low anyway, so music isn't really something I pay attention to. Cutscenes really depend on the game for me. I love watching RPG cuts but in something like... GTAIV, I skip everything. I think it depends on how cinematic they are.

As for story... This isn't the type of game where I would really care. It's a hack and slash, so the only thing I'm concerned about is how interesting the fight mechanics are. And judging by the demo I played, the mechanics are quite great.

Who the hell mutes the music in a game like Bayonetta? It's what makes the game more fun!

Also all the games like this have very bland stories that are easily skippable, Devil May Cry, God of War and Ninja Gaiden all focus on the action side more than the story side, it's just common knowledge.

Wait, did you say "God of War" and "bland storyline" in the same sentence? What?...

GoW is no MGS, but it certainly has the coolest storyline I've ever seen in a hack and slasher, and the cutscenes are better than most action games...

Don't expect him to know about GoW more than he has to pretend to like it to keep his facade up. It's sad, really.

Wow Hideo, You really are on a mission against me aren't you? The fact that you make it seem like i know nothing about God of War makes you a complete idiot considering I own both the first and second and still play them on my PS2, alongside owning the PSP game as well.

I admit, saying God of War has a bland storyline is a bit of an understatement. But it's storyline isn't anything to be amazed at and didn't leave me in utter awe. It's a basic story of a man getting stabbed in the back and wanting revenge, defeating the person who has harmed him in the first place and then taking that persons place. Whilst i will say it did have some great parts especially fighting multiple versions of yourself and the very start of the game against the hyrdra. Possibly the best part in the whole game is being in the underworld. Oh and the ending of the second game? Kratos being Zeus's son? OH I WONDER WERE I HAVE SEEN THAT BEFORE?

So please Hideo, stop your trying to prove that i "Pretend" to like games that come out from Sony, as alot of my collection of games consists of PS2 exclusives which i still cannot keep my hands off today.

No, I just like annoying you <3

If I was on a mission I'd be doing more time consuming things, like writing posts of that size and not reading them.

Skip every cutscene, mute the music and ignore everything story related. Now put down the controller, take out the game, get a refund and buy something, I don't know, actually good.

Seriously, there's cheaper and better masturbation material that you won't have to justify buying to your family.

Have to agree with that, the GoW franchise was based loosely on the Greek mythos, and there is no more awesome backstory for a hero.

Wow, aren't you just a completely brilliant person for doing that. I think they should make you President

The only mistake you made was responding to blatant sarcasm with any seriousness.

    Gamesta100 Dec 30, 09
Yeah they should TOTALLY make me president. After all, we all know that an Aussie that lives in Aus can TOTALLY be president
    • 0
      Hideo1 Dec 30, 09
An Aussie that lives in Aus can be president. President of Australia. President of the book club. President of people who misread things. Who said I meant the president of whatever you thought?
      • 3
        Gamesta100 Dec 30, 09
        We don't have a president.We have a Prime Minister

Usually when someone says president they mean president of a country. But then again they usually add a THE at the front. It's not misreading, it's misinterpreting.People do it with my posts all the time.

You can't always assume people will know exactly what you mean.

I once said that most of a bunch of games were not worth playing imo and some guy got all pissed off thinking I was saying that the games sucked and that no one wanted to play them. All I meant was that I had no interest in most of the games.
        • 0
          Hideo1 Dec 30, 09
Exactly. You assumed I meant President of the United States. I never assumed anything. So again, your fault.

You're just having boatloads of fail in this article, aren't ya?
