As the evolution of a videogame formula that’s now been around for more than three decades, Hyperballoid HD certainly has its’ work cut out to prove that it has something new to add. Most immediately, the new ideas come in the form of power-ups. Collected by removing special glowing blocks, the typical bat extension, multiple ball and sticky bat power-ups are available alongside more inventive temporary abilities, such as protective fields that can save a single ball at times when you may be otherwise occupied, an artificial intelligence (AI) controlled second bat and even mounted firearms upon the bat itself.
