Final Fantasy XIII hasn't been recieving the best reviews lately, but don't start worrying just yet. David Szyszko of SK has reviewed the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII and he was impressed, giving the game an overall score of 9/10, and saying that the game has an "excellent battle system, absorbing visual experience, unique style and excellent fine-tuning of all the details."

Final Fantasy XIII as a whole is worthy of a stroke, mainly due to the excellent battle system, absorbing visual experience, unique style and excellent fine-tuning of all the details. Players who can not forgive the developers for removing certain RPG standards will have a difficult time in the way and the worst the mood while playing. However, those who submit to the linearity and the generic manga styled conduct of the story will delight in the strengths of the game. And such, there really is a lot.

The review scores seem to be between 7-9/10. Well, so far the scores have been fairly high.

Not that I read any of them. I want to make up my own mind about how good the game is by playing it myself.

After playing Final Fantasy XII I'm a bit worried about this, I just hope it gives me the same feel I got from playing the other Final Fantasies. XII not included.

If it's similar to FFXII I may like it depending. The major downfall of FFXII for me was the damn characters. The worst cast in a video game, ever.

7 out of 10 isn't necessarily a bad score. Some just seemed disappointed and too drawn into the hype. :S This one seems a little too attached to the game. xD

Yeah, XII wasn't a bad game, but the story was way too short and uninteresting, and the characters were more than a little worthless. It does sound as if they've removed some of the free-roaming and added more story and character development. Hell, if they even develop a single character I'll be happy.

I agree, Final Fantasy XII's cast was one of the most horribd in video game history. The gameplay really wasn't THAT bad, but I just didn't feel anything towards the characters (apart from loathing) so I just stoped caring, and hence stopped playing.

I actually thought the cast was pretty cool, it's just the situations they put them in and the whole story sucked. Baltheir was awesome. Could have done without the rabbit chick. Then again the storyline behind her whole race was kinda cool actually.

Yeah, I'm dying to know when seven out of ten became a bad score.

It's a bad score when you have to pay $60 for a game.
