Electronic Theatre delivers their latest Friday Feature Retro Review, taking a look at the often under-rated SEGA Mega-Drive release of Fatal Labyrinth.

As a side-step from the particularly well received Phantasy Star series (then on it’s second instalment), Fatal Labyrinth proposes some unique ideas, but is limited in terms of plot. With the likes of the Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda series already prominent in the RPG genre, Fatal Labyrinth’s storyline leaves a considerable amount to be desired. Cast as Trykaar, a brave swordsman chosen to save his village, your journey will be a lonely and difficult one. When beginning, the player may speak to a number of villagers about an invading dragon that has stolen a Holy Goblet, and guards it within the labyrinth, but the plot receives little further development until the player defeats the aforementioned dragon, completing the game.
