Electronic Theatre delivers an in-depth review of the recently launched Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, now available on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC download, and set to be available for PC at retail at the end of this month.

The story casts the player as Stone sent back in time to recover some ancient artefacts and same the future of humanity. This really has little relevance however, as the game doesn’t ask you to search for these artefacts, merely reach them at the end of levels. Nor does it concern itself with the accurate portrayal of a morality system, an examination of the human consciousness or make any effort to assert an intelligent depiction and questioning of society. Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter has guns and enemies – a plentiful supply of both – but little else.
