Electronic Theatre delivers their latest Friday Feature, a Retro Review of Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004.
Released on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong was deemed by many to be Nintendo’s spiritual successor to the original Donkey Kong, and as such was just another tangent of the most successful videogames franchise ever. So what sets this one apart, and makes it worth trawling through the back of the cupboard or looking through the piles of dross in charity shops for? Is it worth a bid on ebay? Was it just another money-spinner, or did it take gaming forward, push the boundaries, create something beautiful as Sonic did with speed, Bond did with suspense, and Lara Croft did with introducing us to Angelina Jolie?
