IGN have posted their review of the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive JRPG, White Knight Chronicles. They gave the game a 5.1/10, citing a flawed combat system while also stating it is one of "the first major disapointments of 2010". Full review after the jump.

Unfortunately, White Knight Chronicles (known as "White Knight Chronicles International Edition" in the United States) is one of the first major disappointments of 2010. The end result, which is far removed from the promise of the original concept trailer, not only looks far worse, but has a flawed battle system, poorly-told story and a number of technical issues. I'm amazed that this game, which had so much potential, actually came from a studio with such a vast amount of experience. As sad as it is to say, White Knight Chronicles is a letdown

Why do all JRPGs this generation seem to suck? Hell, FFXIII was supposed to be amazing, but even that has been recieved with mixed feelings.

I was expecting a lot more from this game.

Everyone is going to have different reactions, even big hits like Uncharted 2 and MGS4 got an occasional bad review. White Knight Chronicles might not be awesome, but then again by the same token it very well could be.

So don't give up on it just yet

The highest review has been 8/10, and it's currently running a 64 on Metacritic.

So, its more than just these couple.

There have been plenty of games I've loved before which got a lower score than 60. I'm not saying it will be great, just that it could be, some people have obviously managed to enjoy it.

Shit, glad I didn't preorder it like one of my buddies was trying to convince me to do. He got the game today and is playing it now, poor luck for him.

Wow people, relying on others opinions to see if the game is good or not? Just because IGN or Gamespot don't like the game doesn't mean YOU won't. You are your own best critic. I am not saying you shouldn't use other reviews as reference, but I don't think its right assume that you won't like the game without at least giving it a rental yourself. (or playing your friends copy)

Yeah you're right. Gamespot is pretty harsh.

...and I've always had a large dislike for IGN.

Even though going by reviews isn't always the best thing, when reviewers all give about the same score (5-7s) then it makes people wonder.

I was planning on getting this game once I got a PS3, but I think I will wait on it. I have seen my roommate playing it and it hasn't caught much of my attention.
