With Rebellion's latest game "Aliens Versus Predator" just a couple days from release, gamers are curious to see how the game gets along with critics. So far with a 5.75 from GameInformer and an 8.5 from IGN UK, it's a mixed bag.

Gamespot puts in their two cents, adding to the inconsistency from critics. Donning the game a mediocre 5.5/10, Gamespot states the game is fun and brutal, but the level design is poor, controls are inconsistent, and there are many small but incredibly deadly flaws throughout the game.

Place your pre-orders wisely.

At this point I have no idea who's getting it right and who's getting it wrong.

Agreed. I don't expect everything to be uniform, but this game seems be getting almost completly contrastng reviews. Between this and White Knight Chronicles I'm really unsure on whether to buy or not.

I haven't bought a video game since Uncharted 2, and I'm looking for a new game to buy. Unfortunately everything I was looking into for this year has met with some bad/mixed reception, so I'm unsure of what to do.

Don't read reviews or listen to critics until you've had the chance to form a decent opinion yourself. I personally think that it's really bad.

So, Alien VS Predator has become the new Final Fantasy XIII?

I think this is a good review apart from maybe the score. It points out legitimate flaws unlike the first bad review.

As much as the review made the game sound rather crap, I was actually very excited to play the game while reading it.

I don't care if it's nowhere near as good as other SP/MP FPS's as I don't play any of them.

I don't really trust Gamespot. They gave Lostwinds a bad review.

Some of their reviewers are extremely stupid.

One said that Half Life 2: The Lost Coast(Which was a scrapped level from the original game but was added as free DLC if you had Half Life 2) was too similar to Half Life 2.

Weird, Playstation Mag AU gave it a 9. I'll just see what the scores even out to and decide if I should buy it.

just wait a bit longer and look on Metacritic for the averaged score.

right now its got about a 72 on both PS3 and 360, but only 10 reviews so far. who knows how many more places will review it though.

I also think quite a bit of this may stem from the reviewers comparing it to the original game. They aren't doing this in text, but in their head this game is almost like a hollywood remake of an iconic movie. The original Aliens vs Predator on PC in 1999 was one of the best atmospheric shooters ever made, it was met with universal acclaim... I would not put it beyond many reviewers reviewing this having loved the original and just not giving the 'remake' the credit it deserves.
