For everyone who already owns the bread and butter title, Capcom has released the new additions to Resident Evil 5 as downloadable content packs on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The first of the new missions hit the PlayStation Network just this Thursday. Titled Lost in Nightmares, this new chapter follows BSAA Agents Chris and Jill through the original Spencer mansion on a dubious mission with a not-so-dubious climax.

All of the weight of the first half of Lost in Nightmares is carried by this sense of nostalgia. Players will locate a crest to open a locked door, pull a switch to disengage a spiked roof trap, discover a secret message in heat-sensitive paper, and find passwords hidden throughout various diaries stashed around the mansion. The atmosphere of the location is also quite horrifying… until the player realizes that there actually aren’t any enemies.
