Neoseeker's very own Dom Cook (Dark Dom) reviewed the Wii survival horror Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. So is it a rose amongst the thorns of this generation's lousy horror titles? Or is it a good thing the game was never released outside Japan? Go to the source for the full review.

Fans of the series will settle in once they get their head around the new control scheme; the horror and general creepiness of the series is definitely still there. Newcomers will still enjoy themselves, although it may be a bit hard to get into at first, as the plot is thick with flashbacks, conspiracies and a crazy amount of journals to collect. It really is a shame Fatal Frame IV was never released outside of Japan, especially given its large cult following from the fantastic previous three games. If you can get your hands on a Japanese copy of the game, download the free English patch and be prepared to get scared.

I was wondering why no-one had posted it on GG yet.

Dom was kinder on the game than I was going to be. Bloody Wiimote and stupid gameplay design. *shakes fist*

It sure is. It might not be as fast-paced as games like RE5 or Dead Space but fans of survival horrors in the vein of Silent Hill would love this game.

FFIV is also easily one of the best horror titles of this gen. Which is why it's so *bleep*ed that Nintendo refused to publish it here... or at least hand it over to another publisher. With crap like Ju-On: The Grudge and Calling making it over to the US, it genuinely boggles my mind that such a solid title as Fatal Frame IV was never released here.
