Sega is out to restore the fans' faith in Sonic. By featuring fast side-scrolling gameplay, retro-style thrills, and all the loop-de-loops you could hope for in a sequel, it certainly seems like the Sonic franchise is on the right track.

    This looks alright overall, but I'm not keen on the idea of the addition of this "homing beacon" for attacking enemies. I think it takes away from a big part of the gameplay, and is only there as a gimmick to revive the franchise. But I am giving it the benefit of the doubt till I see how it plays, man.

    The demo was a blast but the price is the only thing that's keeping me from buying it, other than that I'd have hoped it had all the cool editions Sonic 3 had.

    Here's hoping episode 2 raises the bar.
