Halo 3 - The console nerd’s questionable answer to real FPS gaming

videolamer | October 05, 2007 | Reviews | XBOX 360
Halo is the default go-to game for people who want to pretend they are hardcore gamers but really have a fair amount of difficulty determining whether or not the television is actually on. It is the game all of the geek-hunter girls I know say they play. They say it because they think it makes them look like gamers, and they think this is hot.
So, to tie this up for you, I offer these 3 points:

1. Console FPSs suck for anyone with a PC and, um, skill. If you can’t find a way to make sense of this you can take your purse, capri pants and subscription to Teen magazine and go home.

2. Halo 3 is Halo: Combat Evolved, only it has actually evolved into what they wanted the first time through. The crappy excuse for a story is evidence of this.

3. At the end of the day, the game is a badass good time if you want to get into a quality ass-kicking situation, even if it reminds you of UT2004 just a little.

Although i much dislike Halo 3, i find this article offensive to girls thay play video games! But you do have a point with "1. Console FPSs suck for anyone with a PC and, um, skill."

Imagine a world full of Noobs and Girl gamers, is their really any problem with them? (besides Noobs having no skill and using cheats/hacks to beat everyone)

Ok, just by having a quick look at the info on this page, I'm not even going to bother with the full bloody article.

So to untie this article's three main points, I shall use my own three points.

    1. @ guy who wrote this point, your very stupid, period. I don't spose something like Shadowrun counts in this right? I mean that FPS is way balanced between playing on the console and playing on the PC. Just look at freakin Live play with Vista and 360 players. I will admit that on a lot of FPS games, sniping and such MAY be better on the PC depending on the game, but games like Shadowrun, the Halo's and the COD's all seem to do perfectly fine on the 360, I've NEVER had trouble sniping on those games (the only FPS's I actually have anyway).

    2. Crappy excuse for a story eh? Well Mr. Know-It-All, have you noticed that the story has never played a huge huge part in the games themselves? Did you think that maybe it was about the gameplay and not so much the story because there's these genius things called BOOKS! The campaigns are always rather short, but fun and for those who listen it's definitely enough. The books are designed for more of the overall long story, to fit in with the games to create a very big universe. Also if you had half a brain, you'd notice that the story between Halo 1 and Halo 3 are rather different. Granted there are quite a few things that are near the same, but give this a think. On Halo 1 your on Halo 04 the entire time (with the exception of the first level). On Halo 3 your on Earth for the first half and then on the Ark for pretty much the rest of it and finally the almost finished Halo 04 with the two flood levels inbetween.

    3. Yes it is very fun if you just WANT to have some fun.

People may disagree with my first two points and thats fair enough but at the very least, if this person who wrote the article at least did it in a better way, then I wouldn't have felt the need to put those points because it would seem more like an opinion then bashing of a game that a lot of work went into and simply being mean to people who play on the 360 and girls that play video games.
