Recently UGO.com got their hands on a Japanese copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and have written a basic gameplay review of each new character: What their controls are like, Who they are similar to, Their pros and cons, etc.

~ For info on the new characters not included in this article: Diddy Kong, Lucas, Pokemon Trainer, and Olimar please go to the source.

This is not a vast change for the series. From a basic gameplay standpoint, you're getting the same experience you got in Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Gamecube, though it's ben refined and improved from just about every front.

Here are some of the newbies you start out with:
Pit (Kid Icarus) - Feels like a mash-up of Link and Kirby, Pit dual-wields a pair of swords, but he can also whip out a bow and arrow to take you down from long range. His wings are for easy saves when you're knocked off a ledge, and he's not as light and floaty as Kirby. He is, however, a much bigger target.

Meta Knight (Kirby's Adventure) - Meta Knight basically looks like Kirby in armour, but he controls like a floaty version of Marth. His sword attack lacks range but it's pretty powerful, and his whirlwind beats even Link's tornado spin.

King Dedede (Kirby's Adventure) - Another Kirby cross-over, King Dedede is huge and powerful, akin to Donkey Kong or Bowser. He's also extremely slow, but he does have a giant hammer, which allows for slightly longer range. He can also summon Waddle-Dees as projectiles.

Ike (Fire Emblem) - In Smash Bros. Melee, Roy was a slightly more powerful version of Marth. Ike trumps even the mighty Roy, lacking the speed of Marth but packing a serious whallop with his giant claymore. He also has fire magic which adds to his versatility.

Ok so this is just the new comers what about the details on the rest. I guess they didn't feel like talking about them.

Because they were in previous games, so we have an idea as to how they play. I was more curious about Snake and Sonic's gameplay, though, guess they didn't include third-party characters here. Then again, they didn't talk about Wolf, either.

Seems like Diddy and Captain Olimar have the high-ups, being more original and such.

I'm looking forward to playing with these new characters. They all seem to have their positives and negatives, but hopefully they are much more balanced in Brawl.

Aww they didn't say anything about Sonic or Snake. The Pokemon Trainer sounds like fun to play as.

Pokemon Trainer is the one I am looking forward to using the most. I like the idea of switching between the pokemon for some reason XD

They probably didn't say anything about Sonic or Snake since they are unlockables.

Pokemon Trainer is one of the few characters that I am really interested to play as. I was never to high on the whole Pokemon switching out thing but after reading about it and watching videos of PT being used. It does make me very interested.

Diddy seems to be one of the more useful ones eh?

I do like speedy characters more than big lumbering hulks >_>

    Too bad I don't have a Wii -_-

I'm definitely interested to play as Wolf and Sonic, and I'm dying to see how bad Fox really is

They don't go into much detail, but apparently Ike is good.

Ike sounds like the best character on the list for me. I'll definitely enjoy playing as him.
I can't stand playing as the huge characters, so it looks like I won't be having as much fun with King Dedede as I thought (I didn't realize he was so big ).

But Marth and Link will be my main characters, so I'm interested in knowing how they differ from previous Smash Bros. games.

      Sheik > Link

I never did like playing as Marth and Roy, but I'll be giving Ike a try anyways. He is just a stronger version of Roy apparently.
