Ever since its release, Mario Kart Wii has been recieving stellar reviews from gaming sites everywhere. And now Kotaku have reviewed the game, analyzing even the small parts of Mario Kart Wii.

Fun fact: I'm a total Mario Kart fanboy. For the record: Double Dash is my favourite (I know, I know). So I'm used to watching the Mario Kart series take small, baby-steps forward with each new version. In this case, I was expecting just that. Small steps forward.
Mario Kart Wii, however, feels more like a step forward, a shuffle to the side then, after a brief pause, a tentative step back.
Look, Mario Kart Wii isn't a bad game. Far from it! I've enjoyed playing it, and I'm sure a ton of new Wii owners, whose last go-around with the series was on the SNES, will have a blast. But you know what? I'm not a new Wii owner. I'm a longtime fan of the series. Safe to say most of you are as well. And I found the unnecessary gameplay tweaks and underwhelming wheel more than a little disappointing. It's still a good game, don't get me wrong, it's just...not as great as you probably thought/hoped it would be.

My favorite Mario Kart was the first, barely played any others that came along, so can't wait to pick this up.
He says that Mario Kart online needs voice chat, but is it really the type of game to need it? Heck, even with voice chat, it just wouldn't be the same as having your mates round, with comments like "Blue shell coming your way!" flying about. The online is fine as it is, and sure as hell beats Brawl online from what I can see.
As for the Wii wheel, it is just down to personal preference for the righ control scheme. He says that the Wii wheel doesn't work too well, yet I can use it with no problems at all. I use the Wii wheel, my neighbour who has the game uses the Gamecube controller.. can't really criticise the game for that since it offers so many different control schemes.
Overall, it's my favourite Mario Kart of the lot, and I've been playing them since the SNES one.
It's got more characters, better graphics, and enhanced control schemes...there is no reason to not like it. If you don't like a specific way, can't you just play with the old GC control style?
New game=new control method=something new to do and beat
