Many PS3 (and possibly X360) owners had high hopes for Haze, the latest from Free Radical, who's of course, famous for their Timesplitter series.

According to IGN.com editor Jeff Haynes, the game fails to deliver. Massively.

Haze was touted as a great PS3 exclusive from a developer well versed in first-person shooter mechanics. While Free Radical does have a solid pedigree, Haze does not live up to the company's reputation thanks to a horrible plot, weak gameplay mechanics and visuals that are truly underwhelming. While playing with friends is enjoyable, not even those are enough to bring this lackluster title around.

The demo was absolutely slaughtered by just about everyone.

I didn't think it was that bad tbh.

    I'll probably rent this.

IMO if a game gets 4.5 its boarding on being unplayable and from what ive seen of haze it odesn't appear to completly rubbish

Considering this got nines from the other sites I am going to treat this with extreme skepticism, I mean in the review all he goes on about is how the characters suck and the main character complains.

    I call bullshit

Nines from where? What websites, exactly?

      I call extreme bullshit.

      Out of 10.

4.5 out of 5 would mean it was awesome (in their opinion of course).

Why even post here if you can't read the articles first? It would save the rest of us from having to sort through the nonsensical jibberish like those such as yourself constantly post.

the highest review for this game was from gamershell who gave it a 6.5 out of 10. So I don't have any clue towards what Silver Mirrior is talking about?

Haze got a 8.5-9.0 from Famitsu. 9/10 from Playstation Magazine.

        It got an 8.5/10.

Famitsu rates things too high though.

        GamersHell gave it a 6.5

Kotaku isn't high on it, either.

Haze's average score on GameRankings and Metacritic is 56% and 54% so it certainly hasn't been recieving outstanding scores by most websties.

It's highest score was 7/10 from Gamedaily and PSM3 Magazine.

Haha, I love how Cdemon got thumbed down by someone for providing links to two respected gaming sites reviews of Haze.

To each man his own opinion. I've heard a lot of good AND bad about this game.

Best thing to do? Rent it, and see what it is worth yourself. I've had experiences of bad games that I thought were awesome, and crtically acclaimed titles I felt were bullshit.

Woah! I didn't think this game was that bad, it was still pretty good, just didn't deliver its expectations.

It's certainly nothing on the amazing 2007 lineup of FPS's. I wonder why they released it this late? It's trying to mess with the veterans, Vegas 2 was risking it coming in this late, but Haze really adds nothing new at all to the genre.

      Final Blade May 20, 08
They actually had some issues with the development of the game, which is why it got delayed. I mean I would rather have that then a shitty version. Haze looks like a good game. Good enough not to get such low scores.

    Ouch.

Ugh, another PS3 exclusive is a bust. June 12 can't come soon enough.

      Lighting May 20, 08
Are you honestly going to say that because of one overexaggerated review?

        Cdemon May 20, 08
One? I agree with that idea when it comes to IGN, who has the credibility of an 80 year old crack whore, but Kotaku and GamersHell have both given the game mediocre reviews.

I expected as much from Haze. Despite my very cautious support of it, I subconsciously knew this was bound to happen.

Haze interview: "We want Haze to be the shooter people think of when they think PS3." This ain't the Timesplitters age anymore. Points for effort, though.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. When I saw the trailer, I was shocked at how horrible it looked. The nectar factor of the game isn't even that original. Hmph. I will have to rent this once I get my PS3.

Recently, my mom watched a commercial for it; she describes it as "some mighty warrior guy is given all these drugs that make him a better soldier, but eventually, the side effects take over. So now he's out for revenge."

If that's really what it's like, I'm not surprised it got a shit score.

The storyline is pretty much sh*t. Your mom basically summed it all up.

From the very beginning (ie: the first trailer) I was absolutely not impressed. This is a vanilla shooter with nothing really special going for it.

FPS that stand out have a niche that will draw in users. For example, Left 4 Dead, you can either play as a survivor or a zombie. As a survivor you have to take on waves and waves of zombies. What does Haze offer? you can get your dude high and rage? hmm, not that appealing. This is Haze's only point of interest, which, you can tell because they had offered a syringe pen if you preordered the game.

Getting high in game is not a good enough factor to make it a good/great FPS game. I will not be using my money to even rent this.
